Workshop: Settle the Body, Soothe the Mind

This workshop in the Subtle Body Series offers an opportunity to relax, receive and reflect on the connection between mind-body-spirit that we find when we come to our yoga mats. In this session we will access the top three chakras: the vishuddha at the base of the throat (related to intuition and expression); the ajna in the third eye, between the eyebrows (associated with direct perception, imagination and concentration); and the sahasrara chakra at the top of the head, where we find the divine – consciousness, union, bliss.
Breath work and gentle motion will help open the flow of energy and connect with prana (life force). Restorative yoga supports the body in postures that are held for long periods of time, and uses props to help the body feel at ease. Hands-on healing and therapeutic touch are used to create a sense of calm, invite a feeling of peace and encourage a deeper release.
Working with props, gentle stretching and easy transitions keep the body relaxed and open. Using aromatherapy oils and guided visualization to uplift and inspire, we’ll share a peaceful experience and create a positive shift, in our mind-body-spirit. From a place of balance, we can begin again.

Restorative Workshop

Sharon Kay leads a 2-hour workshop exploring many aspects of restorative yoga. Learn about the physical and therapeutic benefits that restorative poses can offer and dive deeper into a soothing practice to rejuvenate and heal. Supported postures will be accompanied by gentle stretching and calming breathing exercises.
Through restorative yoga, the body is supported in postures that are held for a longer period of time, using props (blankets, blocks and bolsters) to feel at ease and find comfort in each pose. This practice offers a softer approach to bring the body back into a natural state of balance and grace.
